The Greenwich Stop Smoking Service in partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust are launching a brand new roadshow on January 23rd, encouraging residents of the borough to ’Quit Your Way, Today!’ The roadshow will tour around the Greenwich borough for 7 weeks, visiting high footfall areas such as high streets and supermarkets, and offer dedicated 1-1 stop smoking support.
With so many different ways to stop smoking now, there’s never been a better time to quit. The Greenwich Stop Smoking Service are here to help you every step of the way, no matter how many times you’ve tried to stop before. Whether you prefer to quit with the help of drop-in centres, stop smoking medications or e-cigarettes, we’re here to support you with whatever you choose.
There are lots of benefits to quitting, including reducing your risk of developing smoking related illnesses, having a bit more cash, protecting those around you from secondhand smoke, improving your breathing and general fitness and even improving your appearance – your skin will be brighter and your teeth will be easier to keep white!
There will be lung age tests available, as well as carbon monoxide readings and free, local support from a team of trained stop smoking advisors. You’re 4 times more likely to quit with support, so the friendly advisors will be on hand to help you choose your best way to stop smoking.
Our friendly advisors will also be offering advice and support to pregnant women and new mums, signposting those who want to quit to Children’s Centre drop-in sessions and our specialist stop smoking clinics based at Queen Elizabeth hospital.
Residents who have benefitted from the wide range of support offered by the Greenwich Stop Smoking Service had this to say:
“I was really struggling to kick that first one in the morning but this week, due to a slight change in my morning routine, I have cut it out. So happy”!
“Going out for a drink after work with a couple of colleagues was when I found it most difficult, but with the support of the patches and the [Nicotine] inhalator I managed to overcome the cravings”.
“It’s been a difficult year for me this year, so during this quit attempt I’ve had hard days, but the support from the advisor and my work colleagues has helped me through”.
“I tried the mini lozenges and they were not very nice. So since then I’ve not even used the patches either and I’m feeling great”.
The roadshow will be at the following locations:

Wednesdays – Asda Charlton, 10am - 5pm
